A good day's rally

The RGS Under 12 and Under 13 boys tennis teams recently travelled down to York to compete in the annual St. Peter's Tennis Tournament.

The tournament, now in it's third year, saw competitors from RGS, St Olave's, Terrington Hall, Aysgarth School, Bradford Grammar School and Hymers College.

The tournament was a doubles format and saw the boys playing on grass courts, which was a huge treat for them.

There was some fantastic play from all the schools and RGS were the eventual winners of the Under 12 competition, with Matthew Nice and William Walker only dropping one game all tournament.

The Under 13 competition was won by Hymers College, with the RGS pairing of Jamie McLeod and Sahil Pabary reaching the semi-finals.

Kerry Smith was extremely pleased with all the boys and their performances. She said,

'Playing on grass is a dream occasion for any tennis player, so what an experience for our boys to play on grass in fantastic conditions.

'I'm really pleased with the performances put in by all the boys and it's great to come away with the Under 12 trophy.'

Thanks to St. Olave's, part of St Peter's for organising the event. Next year can only be bigger and better.
