Alex slam dunks into national tournament

Talented Year 7 student, Alex Nice, has been selected to represent the North East U13s at the upcoming Basketball England’s Aspire Tournament.

This fantastic achievement, which will give Alex the opportunity to go head to head with some of the top players in the country, comes after just two years of commitment to the sport.

Having first discovered his talent for basketball when he saw a practice session and felt keen to give it a go, the keen sportsman who also plays county cricket, has never looked back and continues to have great successes in the sport he loves.

Speaking about his selection, Alex, whose favoured position is centre, said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing a lot of basketball against some of the best players in the country.”

Taking place at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, across the weekend of 20th and 21st July, the tournament consists of a selection of the strongest players from across ten regions competing against one another. The competition is also used to assist the national team coaches in their selection of players, meaning this could be the start of an exciting journey for Alex.

We wish Alex the best of luck and can’t wait to hear about how he gets on.
