Award winning author visits Year 7

Award winning author, Sarah Govett, visited RGS recently to talk to our Year 7 students about her books and some of the topics they highlight.

Sarah's books are critically acclaimed, with The Territory being shortlisted for The Times' Chickenhouse Children's Fiction Prize. It also won the Gateshead YA Book Prize in January 2017 and the Trinity Schools' Book Award.

Sarah's gripping novels are set in a future UK that is threatened by hunger, disease and rising sea levels. When discussing her journey of writing the books, Sarah spoke about the moral questions that the books throw up. She asked our students what they would do, especially if they had a decision to save someone's life even though it might condemning others to a worse fate.

Our students thoroughly enjoyed Sarah's visit, finding the topics of discussion very thought-provoking, and those who hadn't already read her books, were eager to start.
