Cross Country Cup National Finals 2015

Cross Country Cup National Finals 2015

Both Inter Girls and Inter Boys teams qualified for the National Schools Finals held at Beauchamp Middle School in Bedford on Saturday on 5th December. The weekend began with morale boosting arrival of the high market Snaith’s bus, fully kitted with leather seats and tables! The Inter Boys team from Dame Allan’s Boys School were joining us for the second year in a row so there was an air of pleasant rivalry from the first few minutes of the journey. The event itself had the usual glamour of Cross Country Finals, that being it was a muddy course, with adequate toilet facilities and school hall make shifting for merchandise outlet come podium arena; hot dogs, tea and flap jacks were a steal from the corridor kiosk. The course was windy and had shown results from earlier rains, but then day itself was crisp and pleasant! The Inter Girls had high hopes of improving on their 4th place when they were Juniors, two years ago and it could be argued that they certainly did improve; they came a combined 3rd with 122points but were dropped to fourth place due to the 4th counter being lower than the team that claimed third. Still a hugely impressive result! Isobel Chaudhry came 9th in the individual event. The Inter Boys were pleased to qualify, as they hadn’t done for the last few years. James Morris came highest with 36th in the individual event and the team finished in 23rd place overall.
