Design Ventura

The Design Ventura Competition is an opportunity for students to compete with schools throughout the UK, in a challenge to design a new product to be sold in the Museum’s shop.

This year the D&T Dept. decided to involve all of the current D&T year 9 students, in the competition. We had a total of 15 teams, six of whom were shortlisted to present to a judging panel who had a hard decision to make………who would be put forward to represent the RGS?! Only one team can be entered from each school and the team that won were ‘Illusionate’. Judges felt that their design concept was original, imaginative and fit the brief of ‘Move’ as well as meeting the criteria that the idea had to be very simple to be able to be batch produced by the students, in a school workshop. ‘Illusionate’, supported by their teacher Miss Harvey, have designed and made a ‘stencil for creating illusion shapes and repeating patterns for colouring in’, which is available in a range of sizes with new designs to be added soon.
