Isak competes at the World Championships

Year 8 student Isak Cornelissen continues to flourish on the international stage in trampolining, most recently competing at the World Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Isak started the World Championships in superb form, achieving two personal bests and was placed in the top three after the compulsory routines.

With a medal very much in his sights, Isak put everything into his final voluntary routine in the hope of reaching the finals and going for a medal. Unfortunately it wasn't to be as Isak suffered a fall in his routine which put him out of the competition.

Despite the disappointment, Isak was very proud of his performance and for having the courage to attempt a difficult voluntary routine.

Over the past year Isak has become a firm part of the GB squad and he'll hope this continues as he moves up the age categories in forthcoming years. He's already won bronze and silver medals at World Cups, won his age group category at the Dutch International (and finished 20th in the U19 competition). He's also won bronze at the very competitive British Championships (the gold and silver medals at the World Championships went to the two boys who finished above Isak at the national competition).

All of this bodes will for a successful 2018 for Isak as he hopes to continue impressing the British selectors and add to his growing medal collection.
