Swimmer Lola Davison, has beaten off competition from around the country to retain her title as British 800m freestyle champion for a second year running.

Competing at this year’s British Swimming Summer Championships, Lola came an impressive 4th out of the 79 swimmers invited to the event, and after swimming a lifetime best time, was once again crowned the 16yrs 800m Freestyle Champion.

Swimmers from across the UK were invited to the event, which took place across six days at Tollcross ISC in Glasgow, based on national rankings. In order to defend her title, Lola swam in a heat with nine other swimmers, ranging from 16 to 22 years old.

Along with this success, Lola also took silver in the 400m freestyle, bronze in the 200m freestyle and silver in the 4x200m metre freestyle team relay, alongside fellow RGS students, Izzy Winter and Amelia Robertson.

Speaking about her achievements, Lola said: “I am delighted to have defended my title after a tough season, during which I also had to sit my GCSEs.

“It also feels great knowing I swam lifetime best times in all the swims I took part in.”
