Megan earns national call up

Year 10 student Megan Cottee has been selected for the England Hockey under 16 girls programme for the forthcoming season.

Following a successful campaign at the Futures Cup tournament with the Pennine Pumas, where they reached the final, Megan impressed the national selectors with her skills and game play and will find herself competing for a spot in the national team for fixtures this season.

Megan was lucky enough to meet her hockey idol, Kate Richardson-Walsh during the first week of term, when Kate visited the school and presented Megan with her England shirt.

Speaking of her selection, Megan said,

"I'm so excited to be part of the England team and still can't quite believe I've been picked!

"It's been a super experience so far, being in the HPC at Durham and playing in the Futures Cup and I can't wait to meet up with the rest of the girls for the first England training."
