Millie debuts for GB

Year 11 student Millie Robson flew to Austria recently for her first competition representing British Fencing

The Scottish representative was part of a squad of 30 cadets who competed in the European Cadet competition in Klagenfurt, taking on fencers from USA, Japan and other European countries.

Millie won four out of six of her poule fights earning herself a rank of 65th as she went into the direct elimination rounds. She was given a bye for the first elimination and drew a very strong US fencer in the second round. It was a closely contested bout, but unfortunately Millie lost 14-15.

Millie finished the competition ranked 88th (out of 210) and the fifth highest placed GB fencer, a super achievement for her first European competition.

She now has a GB under 17 ranking in epee of 13th and 255th in Europe.
