Musicians entertain at Choral and Orchestral Concert

This year's Choral and Orchestral Concert was held at the Jesmond United Reformed Church and was full of parents, students, staff, alumni and friends of the RGS all eager to hear our musicians perform.

The Concert Band, under the leadership of Miss Sarah Bolt, opened the concert performing Serenade Op. 22C by D. Bourgeois and Jump in Line with great energy.

The Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Mr Zlatan Fazlic, impressed the audience with their colourful programme which included Forth Movement from Farewell Symphony No.45 by J. Haydn, Allegretto Op.12 No.3 and Bolero Op.12 No.5 by M. Moszkowski. They concluded their section with a superb rendition of Mambo from Symphonic Dances by L.Bernstein.

The final section of the concert saw the RGS Senior Choir, Community Choir and Orchestra come together to perform Vivaldi's Gloria in D RV 589.

Lottie Craven (Lower Sixth), Amanda Chakkoria (Lower Sixth) and Amelia Lewis (Year 9) gave outstanding solo performances, supported wonderfully by the choirs and orchestra. These performances capped off an exceptional evening of high quality music performed to its best.
