RGS DebSoc Triumphant at Warwick Schools Competition

On Friday 7th November, 24 enthusiastic debaters travelled down to Warwick to compete in the Warwick Schools 2014 Debating Competition. There were 68 teams competing in total and 12 of these were from RGS. The competition got underway on Saturday with four rounds of debates. This was followed by a final which was between RGS, Eton College and two teams from Solihull College. Urban Coningham and Matthew Thomas (both Lower Sixth) put in an outstanding performance and were victorious in the final! Congratulations to both of them!

Well done to everyone who participated in the competition; all the teams did exceptionally well and should be very proud. Particular mention must go to Cameron Lord and Caitrin Robertson – an inexperienced pair who put in a fantastic performance, narrowly missing out on the final by only one point!
