RGS Gymnasts land silver on the World stage

Young gymnasts Finnian Gavin (Year 9) and Michael Gill (Year 13) recently competed at the 9th Acrobatic Gymnastics World Age Group competition in Putican City, China.

The pair were selected as part of the 'Mens Group' (13-19 age group) alongside Nathan Brady and Ryan Dury.

Having reached the finals leading the competition, the scores were reset to zero. The team performed well, but an error in their combined routine would cost them dearly as they finished behind Russia, just 0.1 off gold with a score of 27.450.

Finnian Gavin of Morpeth said,

'I thoroughly enjoyed the trip, despite missing out on gold by such a small margin.

'I hope we'll learn from this competition and use that knowledge in the future.'

The next big event for the boys will be the British Championships at the end of July.
