RGS Law Visit to Bond Dickinson

RGS Law Visit to Bond Dickinson

As RGS flew the saltire as team base for Scotland’s 2015 Rugby World Cup squad, a group of Upper Sixth students had football on their minds as they flew the RGS flag at international law firm, Bond Dickinson LLP, on Newcastle’s Quayside.

Learning about the commercial realities of working in the legal profession, Dania Abu-Harb, Megan Dakers, Jordyn Dickinson, Andrew Johnson, Phoebe Macindoe and Mariya Narytnyk entered intensive negotiations over a contract deal between a star footballer with a tabloid-worthy private life and his top-class club which wanted to protect its reputation.

Refereeing the lively proceedings at Bond Dickinson LLP were Joanne Smallwood, Graduate Recruitment Specialist and Philippa Jones (ON 2008), Trainee Solicitor.

At the final whistle, the two sides reached a £5 million transfer deal (with non-disclosure clauses) and agreement that the exercise, which is used in helping select graduates for trainee solicitor contracts, had been a great experience.

We are grateful to Bond Dickinson for its invaluable and longstanding relationship with RGS for helping students interested in a Law career and especially to Joanne Smallwood and Philippa Jones.
