Rugby boys invited to England camp

Two of RGS's brightest rugby talents have been asked to attend the England under 17 development camp at the end of November.

Chidera Obonna (Lower Sixth) will be attending his second England camp of the season, having won his first England cap earlier this year when the under 16s played Wales.

The Newcastle Falcons Academy player has become a firm fixture in the RGS first team, putting in some fine performances this season.

Phil Brantingham (Year 11) receives his first invite to camp, having put in some impressive performances for both the RGS and the Falcons Academy this season.

Speaking of his call up, Phil said,

"I'm honoured and really excited to be selected for the development camp.

"It's going to be tough, but I'm looking forward to showing the England coaches what I can do and training with some of the best players in the country."

Both Phil and Chidera were part of the winning RGS side in the Schools Cup 3rd round fixture against Barnard Castle. RGS won 44-12 and will now travel to QEGS Wakefield on Wednesday 29th November for a last 16 round match.
