Stargazing at Kielder Observatory

Stargazing at Kielder Observatory

A forty strong party of students, parents and staff travelled up to Kielder Observatory at the end of January. With lots of snow on the ground the final leg of the journey involved a 4x4 trip up through the forest. Gary Fildes gave us a talk on the life cycle of stars and we got a chance to not only see the telescopes but also view the moon and the planets during a 20 minute break in the cloud cover. Problems getting the bus out of the car park meant a late return to Newcastle but Snaiths did a great job of sorting us out!
