Stowell bring the house down

Stowell bring the house down

The Senior House Music competition was once again well supported all with a packed Miller Theatre enjoying some fantastic performances by our extremely talented musicians and singers.

The competition was fiercely contested between the four Houses and featured solo instrumentalists, instrumental ensembles, rock bands and house choirs all showcasing their talents in front of peers, parents, friends and staff.

Every year group was represented in the competition and the pieces performed where all chosen and directed entirely by the students.

The Headmaster, Dr. Trafford, acting as official adjudicator, was clearly impressed with the standard on display, highlighting to all the performers just how important chosing the right repertoire which results in joy of performing with and for others.

The winners

Horsley - winners of the folk ensemble

Collingwood - winners of the rock band

Alex Adamson (Year 9) - winner of the intermediate solo performance (violin)

Michael Fu (Year 13) - winner of the senior solo performance (violin)

Verity Hogson-Bajoria - Senior Musician of the year

A special mention must go to the Sixth Form students who organised, prepared and rehearsed their house musical programmes fantastically.

Thanks must also go to those members of staff, including the sound crew and technical support team in the Performing Arts Centre, as well as Mr Smalley and the Music department for all their efforts in supporting the competition.
