Students given taste of life in fashion industry

This year, our students had the wonderful opportunity to get involved with the This Is Creative Enterprise (TICE) programme, which offers young people in Tyneside the chance to work with top designers and industry professionals who have expertise in fashion, music, creative writing, and games design and animation.

A group of students went to Northumbria University to work on three fashion-focused projects which addressed topical issues in today’s fashion industry including sustainability, individuality and brand collaboration.

The four day programme involved the students directing their own photo shoots, creating online market campaigns, producing a front cover for a magazine, and learning industry orientated skills including embroidery. This gave them a taste of what being a part of the fashion industry is like and also provided them with invaluable practical experience.

All the students had a fantastic time and thrived off the challenge of learning to use state of the art photography equipment and the opportunity to receive feedback from industry professionals. Furthermore, they enjoyed forging friendships with peers from other schools and collaborating with them to create professional-looking results.

A thanks must go to Headmaster, Mr John Fern, who supported getting this programme going at RGS for the first time.
