Students prepare for national maths final

A team of four students are busy preparing for the UK Team Maths Challenge national final which will take place in the middle of June at the Royal Horticultural Halls in London.

Alex Adamson (Year 9), Logan Hill, Jared Watson and Athena Chan (all Year 8) topped their regional heat and will now compete against 88 schools from across the country in the hopes of lifting the national trophy.

The final will see the RGS team compete in the following:

  • A group circus involving hands-on maths problems
  • A series of shuttles where the answer from one question feeds into the next
  • A cross-number (a mathematical crossword)
  • A relay race combing physical and mental agility
  • A separate poster competition based on a mathematical subject.

We look forward to sharing details of how the team got on after the finals on Monday 19th June.
