Swimmers continue their dominance

Swimmers continue their dominance

Our Junior School swimmers continued to succeed in the pool as they added to their already impressive trophy collection at the HMC Swimming Championships.

The level of competition continues to improve year on year and it was tough for our teams, and there were notable performances from the Year 6 boys freestyle relay team and William Butterworth (Year 6).

The boys freestyle team won their event with a dominant swim pulling away from the other teams.

William Butterworth took bronze in the butterfly which saw the top three swimmers all touching home within 0.2 seconds of each other.

The girls, current Under 10 HMC Champions, were once again outstanding. The formidable team of Jessica and Laura Cottee, Naomi Parker and Celia Talks (Year 6) won four out of five races and breaking just the three records! They were crowned champions for the third year running, a truly fitting end to their Junior School swimming careers.

With the girls winning and the boys finishing 5th in their competition and adding that to the girls win, RGS became joint champions with hosts Ashville College. The trophy will be heading to RGS in time for summer term with Ashville holding it until then.
