Swimmers excel at School Games

RGS swimmers travelled to Sunderland Aquatics centre on Wednesday 20 April to compete in the Tyne & Wear School Games swimming gala.

Fielding under 13 and under 15 girls and boys teams, the swimmers were nervously excited to dive into the competition.

Competing against 12 other schools in each category, RGS swimmers came home with eight medals - two gold, five silver and one bronze.

The golds went to the under 13 boys in both the freestyle and medley relays, with the under 13 girls picking up silvers in both of their relays as did the under 15 boys. The under 15 girls took bronze in the freestyle relay and silver in the medley relay.

Physical Education teacher, Olivia Chapman was extremely proud of all the swimmers and the performances they delivered. She said,

'Everyone swam fantastically and the fully deserve the medals they won in what was a tough field of competition.

'A special mention must go to Jamie McLeod, Henry Willis and Lola Davison who all had superb swims.'
