Tennis teams serve up plenty of success this summer

All of the RGS Tennis squads have enjoyed varying levels of success throughout the summer term, so we thought we'd bring you a round up of all that has happened:

North of England tournament, Bradford Grammar School, Saturday 18 June
Four doubles pairs competed in the U12 and U14 boys North of England Finals with some outstanding play on the court.
All four pairs qualified 1st or 2nd in their groups to reach the Cup knock-out stages and the quarter-finals in the main draw.
Ben Walker (Year 9) and Jamie McLeod (Year 8) got themselves into the U14 semi-finals and unfortunately lost to the eventual winners, Manchester Grammar School.
Matthew Nice (Year 7) and Bobby Green (Year 7) met The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) in the U12s final, having already beaten them in the box round (6-3 the score). Unfortunately, this time out GSAL had their tactics right and we took the title.

Students representing RGS:
U12s: Matthew Nice, Bobby Green, William Walker (Year 7) and Luke Chaudhry (Year 7)
U14s: Ben Walker, Jamie McLeod, Thomas Hewson (Year 9) and James Critchley (Year 9)

St Peter's School junior girls doubles tournament, Wednesday 22 June
It's always a pleasure to visit St Peter's School in York and play tennis on their beautifully maintained grass courts; all of our tennis players relish this opportunity.
This year's girls doubles was successful once again for RGS with the U15s winning and U14s coming 2nd.

HMC mixed tennis competition, Monday 20 June
The HMC mixed competition was a successful affair yet again with both the U13s and U15s making the finals. The U13s beat The Grammar School at Leeds, with brother and sister combo Jamie and Kirstin McLeod not dropping a set all day. The U15s were very unlucky, losing to Giggleswick School in a tight match which only saw our pairs lose one game.
U13s: Matthew Nice (Year 7), Farah Yossry (Year 8), Jamie McLeod (Year 8) and Kirstin McLeod (Year 7).
U15s: Jack Trainor (Year 10), Emma Davis (Year 10), Ben Walker (Year 9) and Hannah Lee (Year 9).
