The Great RGS Bake Off

The Great RGS Bake Off

On Wednesday afternoon the RGS teaching kitchen was a flurry of activity as eight enthusiastic bakers grabbed their whisks and wooden spoons to compete in the Great RGS House Bake Off! As the competition got underway, the distinctive smell of home baking filled the corridors of the STC – a pleasant change to the usual aromas which emanate from the Science labs! The task involved making their own variations on a traditional Victoria sponge cake, producing some impressive results including home-made lemon curd filling, decorative piping work and sticky caramel icing. Two bakers represented each house and after quiet deliberation, the judges announced Hannah Egan-Fowler from Stowell to be the overall winner. All the bakers did a marvellous job and should be very proud of their finished work! The cakes were sold the next day, adding even more money to the total raised during charities week!
