Tosan makes the national squad

Lower Sixth student, Tosan Evbuomwan has seen his efforts on the basketball court rewarded with selection to the England under 17/18 squad.

Tosan impressed the selectors at the Under 17 Regional Development Tournament held in Manchester in early September, where over 120 boys took to the court for their respective regions.

Tosan, who is has been part of the Newcastle Eagles School of Excellence for the last four years, will be looking to make his mark at the Christmas camp when he'll next meet up with the rest of the 38-strong squad. Before then, he'll be working with coaches at the Eagles to ensure he is in the best condition for the camp.

Speaking of his selection he said,

"It's a real honour to be called up into the England squad, and I know it's going to be very competitive amongst the guys ahead of GB selection for next summer's European Championships.

"I'll have to work hard, but I'm excited to get to camp and work with the England coaches."

Tosan is the Eagles only representative in any of the national squads, and only one of two selected from the North East. We look forward to hearing of his progress over the forthcoming months.
