U14 County Cup Cricket Final

U14 County Cup Cricket Final

The U14 cricket team competed in the County Cup final on the 29th June at South Northumberland CC against Newcastle School for Boys. RGS had lost this fixture earlier in the season to a tidy NSB side, with some exceptional individuals. RGS batted first and posted a reasonable score of 111. The large boundaries and slightly heavier than anticipated outfield meant this total was slightly better than it may have seemed, especially as both sides bowled superbly. Rohit Singh top scored with 35 and man of the match, Nathan Byatt supported with 26. In reply NSB took 13 runs from the opening over but lost wickets at regular intervals. Nathan Byatt again contributed with figures of 2 for 4 and George John taking 3 for 18, while Captain Rory Hanley removed the NSB danger man to all but end the run chase. RGS came home victorious by 44 runs.
