Could your child benefit from a bursary place at RGS?

  • Do you live in the North East of England?

  • Is your child bright, curious, and likely to thrive in a challenging and supportive learning environment?

  • Would paying full school fees be difficult for your family*?

If you answered yes to all of the above, your child may be eligible for financial support to help cover school fees at RGS.

*Most of our bursary families have a household income below £55,000; however, every application is considered individually. Full details of our eligibility criteria are below.

Applying for September 2027 Entry?

Bursary application deadline: 23rd November 2026

This is the deadline for submitting your online bursary application.

Supporting evidence deadline: 4th December 2026

All financial documentation and supporting evidence must be received by this date.

We strongly encourage families to begin the process early, as gathering supporting documentation can take time.

Music Award Scheme

The Music Award Scheme is open to both current Year 11 RGS students as well as young people from other schools who are considering studying A-Level Music at RGS Sixth Form.

Reece Foundation Bursary Scheme

The Newcastle-based Reece Foundation is generously offering two Sixth Form means-tested bursaries at the Royal Grammar School from September 2026.
