Families apply for Senior School at different times, some well in advance, others mid-year, and we are here to support you whenever you begin your RGS journey.
Families interested in applying to RGS for 2027 entry and future years are warmly invited to join our upcoming RGS Open Morning on 14th November. This vibrant and engaging event offers a full introduction to life at RGS. You will have the opportunity to explore our buildings with our student tour guides, meet our community and gain a deeper understanding of what makes our school distinctive.

Considering a bursary application?
RGS offers a number of means-tested bursaries each year to talented young people whose families would find it difficult to afford the full fees.
If you are considering applying for a bursary-funded place for September 2027 entry, the bursary application deadline is 23rd November 2026.
We strongly encourage families to begin the application process early and are happy to provide guidance throughout.

Applying for Year 7
Admissions Process
Applicants for Year 7 entry will take part in an online aptitude assessment designed to evaluate their skills in:
- Mathematics
- Verbal and non-verbal reasoning
- English comprehension and literacy
This assessment is taken on a desktop PC at RGS. Following the test, some children are invited back to participate in an informal group activity session. This is a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity for us to get to know them better, observe how they interact with others, and assess their potential to thrive at RGS.
We also request a confidential report from each applicant’s current school, which helps us build a fuller picture of their academic progress and character.
Admissions Timeline
Our process for applications for 2027 entry will follow the same structure as in recent years:
- Application Submission Deadline: Tuesday 5th January 2027
- Bursary Application Submission Deadline: Monday 23rd November 2026
- Year 7 Assessment Day: Saturday 16th January 2027
- Year 7 Activity Day: 3rd & 4th February 2027 (successful applicants will be invited back to attend one of these days)
- Offers emailed: Monday 1st March 2027
Other Entry Points
While Year 7 is our main intake year, we occasionally have places available in other year groups. Entry into these years is subject to availability. We encourage families to contact Ali Perry - our Head of Admissions - to discuss current opportunities.
