Med Soc

WHO ARE WE?
Hello, we are Med Soc!
Med Soc is the RGS's largest society, led by the student committee. Students in Years 11, 12 and 13 interested in a career within medicine, or who are curious about finding out more about this career path, are welcome to join.
The student committee aims to create a positive atmosphere of support and collaboration where younger students can seek career guidance from older students. By encouraging open discussion, sharing application advice, and offering peer support, Med Soc strives to make the journey to medical school a little less daunting.
The committee run weekly sessions, every Thursday 1st lunch in M219, with guest speakers, interactive workshops to help with interview and UCAT skills, as well as debates surrounding ethical dilemmas.
Previous sessions include:
- Respiratory Consultant
- In-depth life of a GP
- A committee run workshop on the application process
- Adult Psychiatry
- Paediatrics and Paediatric Haematology
- Debate: Assisted Dying
- Orthopaedic Surgery
- Cardiovascular Surgery
- Quiz and workshop on NHS issues and ethical scenarios
