Athlete, Taylor M, has taken part in the London Junior Marathon after being selected to represent the North East.

The Year 7 runner finished second in the Junior Great North run last month, and as a result qualified in a team of six to represent the region at the race in the capital.

Finishing with a time of 10:11, Taylor placed 52nd out of 260 – an impressive feat considering she is a year young for the category she ran in.

Speaking about the race in London, Taylor, said: “This is the first time I have competed in the London Junior Marathon and the atmosphere on the route was incredible, everyone was cheering, and the noise was so loud.

"The start of the race was hard as there was a lot of pushing for position, some girls even fell over, but I really enjoyed making new friends from all over the UK."

Taylor, who prepared for the Junior Marathon by training three times a week with her coach and teammates and completing Parkruns on the weekends, is looking forward to the start of the Cross-Country season, as well as working indoors on her 800m time.
