Chris Swainson to Lead Co-Curricular at RGS

WE ARE DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THE APPOINTMENT OF CHRIS SWAINSON AS OUR NEW DEPUTY HEAD RESPONSIBLE FOR CO-CURRICULAR. CHRIS WILL TAKE UP THE POST AT THE START OF 2026, IN PLACE OF ANDREW MCBRIDE, WHO LEAVES US TO BECOME HEAD TEACHER AT ROSSALL SCHOOL.

Chris joins us from Sedbergh School, where he has served as Housemaster, Physics Teacher, and Sports Coach since joining the school in 2021. With a rich background in science, sport, and music, he brings with him a passion for developing well-rounded pupils through a vibrant and inclusive co-curricular programme. 

Chris shared: “I am delighted to be joining RGS Newcastle and leading the co-curricular programme. RGS has an outstanding reputation, and I am looking forward to working alongside colleagues to deliver a broad, dynamic, and aspirational co-curricular offering that provides opportunities for pupils to enjoy new experiences, excel in their chosen field, and make long-lasting memories.” 

We are thrilled to welcome Chris to the RGS community and look forward to the energy and expertise he will bring to one of the beloved and exciting aspects of life at RGS.
