WE WERE THRILLED TO WELCOME OLD NOVO AND FORMER DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS, SIR MAX HILL KC, BACK TO RGS TO JUDGE THIS YEAR’S HOUSE DEBATING.
Debating is RGS’s most long standing co-curricular club, dating back to 1886 and Chaired by many eminent Old Novos. We named our new House Debating Trophy in Sir Max’s honour.
The inaugural Hill House Debating cup in 2024 was won by Collingwood. Sir Max set a thorny motion for the 2025 debate and students from Collingwood, Eldon, Horsley and Stowell delivered their persuasive arguments. All students performed well, but the Hill House Debating cup in 2025 was won by Stowell!
Later that day, Old Novos and RGS parents working in legal professions, gathered to network with students from RGS and our friends from partner State Schools. Their wise counsel was hugely appreciated by students. We were especially thrilled to be joined by Old Novo Lord Timothy Kirkhope of Harrogate.
