LORD KIRKHOPE (ON 53-62) SPEAKS ABOUT RGS NEWCASTLE IN THE HOUSE OF LORDS
We are grateful to all Peers, including Old Novo Lord Timothy Kirkhope, for their eloquent contributions to last week’s House of Lords debate on taxing independent school education.
As our partnership work demonstrates, we are passionate about working - shoulder to shoulder - with our colleagues in State Schools, to raise opportunities and outcomes for young people across the North East.
However proposals to tax independent education, will most impact our hard working families who we know already make great sacrifices to choose independent education, as well as place additional pressure on already over-subscribed partner State Schools.
It is a challenging time however as the oldest school in Newcastle, we continue to fight to protect the social diversity of our school community, and work in genuine partnership with the State system, as part of a rich and diverse spectrum of educational provision to suit the different needs of young people in our beloved Region.
