RGS Breakfast

We are delighted to announce changes to our food offering from September 2026.  There is growing national recognition of the importance of good nutrition in supporting children’s health, wellbeing and ability to learn, with the government recently setting out plans to strengthen school food standards and ensure pupils have access to healthier, more balanced options throughout the day. 

In this context, we are pleased to offer breakfast and an improved break-time food service next term to complement our lunchtime offer.   

BREAKFAST

Breakfast will operate in the School Dining Hall: 

  • Junior School: from 8.00am 

  • Senior School: from 8.15am 

(Times reflect current operational requirements and will be reviewed at Christmas) 

The children will be able to select from the following options each day:

We hope this variety allows pupils to find something they enjoy, whether they prefer something light or something more substantial. 

Booking and Pricing 

Breakfast can be purchased on a ‘pay as you go’ basis by cash or debit card: 

  • Junior School: £3.50 per day 

  • Senior School: £4.00 per day 

 

Alternatively, parents may book in advance on a half termly basis at a discounted price: 

  • Junior School: £105 per half term 

  • Senior School: £118 per half term

BREAK TIME 

For the Senior School, we will be replacing the current provision for Y7 -11 students, instead offering a balanced mix of soft drinks, sweet and savoury snacks and a hot food option each day (including a vegetarian option) on a ‘pay as you go’ basis by either cash or debit card. Items will be individually priced. 

Hot Food (rotating daily) 

  • Monday: Bacon & cheese turnover or cheese slice 

  • Tuesday: Sausage & egg muffin or vegetarian sausage muffin 

  • Wednesday: Baked hash browns with BBQ sauce 

  • Thursday: Pizza-style baguettes 

  • Friday: Sausage, bacon or vegetarian sausage bap 

For the Junior School, we will be replacing the current offering with a very simple choice of fresh fruit, raisins or Pipsticks (100% organic fruit bar) purchasable with cash.  

We are really looking forward to offering this expanded provision and hope it provides the children with good options to support their busy working day, whilst also complementing the food available to them at lunch time.
