RGS is Closer Than You Think
With Jesmond Metro Station just across the road, RGS is uniquely placed for families across the North East. Whether you're travelling from the coast, the city, or the countryside, our excellent public transport links make the journey simple, sustainable, and empowering.
Many of our pupils travel independently from Sunderland, Whitley Bay, Durham, Ponteland, Morpeth and beyond - building confidence, resilience and responsibility along the way. It’s a journey they own - one they can enjoy with friends, plan on their own terms and learn how to navigate the region for themselves.
Choosing public transport isn’t just practical - it’s a greener, smarter way to access an exceptional education.

Further Travel Options
Please note: RGS is located in Jesmond, a suburban area just north of Newcastle upon Tyne's city centre. As a result, we are unable to provide a public visitor car park. However, the school is easily accessible via excellent public transport links listed above as well as:
- By Air: Newcastle Airport is eight miles away to the north west and can be reached by taxi (20 minutes) or metro (25 minutes).
- By Car: If you are visiting the senior school, please ensure you put the 4DX postcode into your sat nav. If you are visiting the Junior School, ensure you use the 4RX postcode. We regret that we cannot provide visitor parking. Pay and display parking is available on the neighbouring streets. Please note the traffic management scheme that is in place around the school:
- Eslington Terrace is one way North to South from Clayton Road
- Eskdale Terrace is one way South to North towards Clayton Road
- Lambton Road is one way entry from Brandling Park, but traffic can operate both ways along Lambton Road. You can exit Lambton Road onto Eskdale Terrace or Brandling Park.
