RGS Summer Skills

During Summer 2024, RGS will be hosting a series of Summer Skills days. 

Performance sessions will be held at RGS's purpose built facilities on-site and led by experienced and enthusiastic RGS Sports staff, alongside renowned external partners.

Each Summer Skills day will inspire participants to improve individually, whilst developing team tactics and group pieces. 

Children from across the North East are warmly welcome to join any session.

Find details about each sport Summer Skills days and details of how to book below. Complimentary wrap can also be booked as part of each session from 8:30am - 10am. Please indicate in the booking process if you would like to take up this option.

 

DANCE

NETBALL

Join RGS Head of Netball Hannah Larsen (a former U21 Loughborough Lightening player and current premier league player) for a morning on the courts for the ultimate netball experience! Whether you are a beginner or more experienced player our sessions are designed to help you develop your skills, make new friends and more importantly have fun! Each session will cover a mixture of drills, skills and match play.

Our Netball sessions are aimed at students aged 8-14 years old.

Timings: Each session will run 9:30am - 12:30pm. 
Drop off/Collection: RGS Main Reception on Eskdale Terrace. Drop off from 9:15am / Collection at 12:30pm.
Kit: Please wear t-shirt, leggings, shorts. Anything comfortable and that you can move around in easily.
Food & Drink: Please ensure you bring a water bottle and snack. We operate a NO NUTS policy on site.

Dates: 12th July, 19th July, 9th August, 16th August

HOCKEY

Join RGS Head of Hockey, (and former Junior International coach) John Wood and former Junior England International Todd Dudley for a day of inspiring hockey training.

Suitable for players at all levels and those new to the sport this session is designed to develop your skills and techniques whilst making new friends and more importantly having fun! 

Each day will include a mixture of games-based activities, skills rotations and match play.

Our hockey sessions are aimed at students aged 8 -14 years old.

Timings:  10am - 4pm. 
Drop off/Collection: RGS Main Reception on Eskdale Terrace. Drop off from 9:45am / Collection at 4pm 
Kit: Training will take place outside so ensure you wear suitable clothing for the weather and pack sun tan lotion if it is a hot day. RGS will provide hockey sticks but we strongly recommend you provide your child with a gum shield and shin pads.
Food & Drink: Please ensure you bring a water bottle, a morning and afternoon snack and a packed lunch. We operate a NO NUTS policy on site.

CRICKET

Join RGS Head of Junior School Sport Adam Cragg (and Captain of South North Cricket Team) for a day of hard hitting, fast bowling and epic fielding as we prepare for the next generation of ‘Baz Ball!.

Gone are the days of defending and blocking out draws, a new era of innovation, 6 hitting, slower balls, bouncers and switch hitting is here! With a focus on T20 format, each morning will include a mixture of creative batting, death-bowling and inner-circle fielding in preparation for the main event! Are you the next Virat Kohli or Harry Brook? Who will be victorious as we battle it out in our very own franchise tournament in the afternoon? Have you got what it takes to hit the biggest 6......

This session is aimed at students aged 10 -14 years old.

Timings:  10am - 4pm. 
Drop off/Collection: RGS Main Reception on Eskdale Terrace. Drop off from 9:45am / Collection at 4pm 
Kit: Training will take place outside so ensure you wear suitable clothing for the weather and pack suntan lotion if it is a hot day. RGS will provide all equipment but if you have your own hardball equipment and want to bring it along you are welcome!
Food & Drink: Please ensure you bring a water bottle, a morning and afternoon snack and a packed lunch. We operate a NO NUTS policy on site.

RUGBY

Get ready for the ultimate rugby experience! We're all about celebrating each child's unique talents and helping them shine. Imagine learning to kick with the precision of Antoine Dupont, run with the agility of Cheslin Kolbe, and pass with the finesse of Marcus smith.

Join us for an exhilarating day of rugby training led by RGS Head of Rugby (and former Saracens and England U20 player) Joel Conlon and Head of Junior School Sport Adam Cragg. Whether you're a seasoned player or new to the game, this camp is perfect for you! We create a vibrant, safe, and fun environment where everyone can develop at their own pace, make new friends, and most importantly, have an absolute blast.

These dynamic sessions are designed to enhance your fundamental skills, tactical knowledge, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Each day is packed with thrilling games-based activities, skill rotations, and action-packed match play. Don't miss out on this unforgettable rugby adventure—come and be part of something amazing!

Kit: Training will take place outside so ensure you wear suitable clothing for the weather and pack suntan lotion if it is a hot day. RGS will provide all equipment but please bring boots and a mouthguard. Contact will be limited, but we advise the use of mouthguards regardless.
Food & Drink: Please ensure you bring a water bottle, a morning and afternoon snack and a packed lunch. We operate a NO NUTS policy on site.

Cancellation Policy

If your child is unable to attend a summer skills session, unfortunately we are unable to offer a refund. However, in some circumstances we may be able to offer a credit towards a future booking. Please email communications@rgs.newcastle.sch.uk if you have any questions.
