Admissions

RGS Newcastle is a place where aspirations are high and opportunities are endless.  Students go on to study highly selective courses at the most sought after universities, but also leave the school having been given the broadest opportunities outside the classroom and having forged friendships that will last a lifetime.

To see all that RGS has to offer, please:

1. Register your child's details to enquire now (more information is here about whether you may be eligible for a means-tested bursary place).

2. Put the date in your diary for our Open Morning on Saturday 18th November 2023, and our Virtual Information Evening on Wednesday 15th November 2023.

3. Understand our admissions processes for the Junior School, Senior School and Sixth Form.

4. Watch the video and read information on this page to see why There's More to Life at RGS!

Our Admission Processes

We are a selective school and our admissions process is designed to confirm that children have the potential to cope with our fast-paced, challenging academic curriculum.

While the thought of an assessment can seem daunting, every attempt is made to ensure that both parents and children are relaxed and put at ease from the moment an application is made. We have a dedicated Head of Admissions, Ali Perry, who is there to offer all the advice, information and guidance you may need along the way.

We are well aware that there can be significant differences in the educational experiences of children and we take that into account during our assessment process. We are not looking for ready-made geniuses! We want you to find the right school for your child, therefore we look for evidence of what applicants may achieve given the exciting opportunities we offer them here.

Please see below the different processes we have in place for our different entry points.
